Knitted Scarf

Materials

  • Yarn: Sport weight wool yarn (approx. 300–400 yards)
  • Needles: US size 6 (4mm) knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Steps

  1. CO 40 stitches (adjust to make the scarf wider or narrower).
  2. Row 1 (RS): K all stitches.
  3. Row 2 (WS): P all stitches.
  4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the scarf reaches your desired length.
  5. BO loosely in knit stitches on the right side (RS).
  6. Weave in ends with the tapestry needle.
  7. Block the scarf: soak in lukewarm water, shape flat, and let dry completely.

Optional Edge (to prevent curling): Knit the first and last 4 stitches of every row to create a garter border.
Row 1 (RS): K4, K to last 4 stitches, K4. Row 2 (WS): K4, P to last 4 stitches, K4.
